Stepping Into 2018
Updated: Apr 16, 2018
It's an honor to have you here reading and taking in the words I so often find myself refraining from sharing for fear of being misunderstood. For starters, my birth name is Athena which I regularly go by. I'll be introducing myself fully in another post for those of you who actually care. Let's start with the most common question I hear after (some) people trip up over pronouncing 'Hija Del Sol' [ee-ha thel soul] (a nickname I acquired while pregnant with my firstborn daughter).
"What does it mean?" I hear this on the regular.
"Daughter of the Sun."
As the blossoming year approaches for myself and Hija Del Sol Birth Services, I can't help but feel overwhelmingly hopeful about the launch of this website. I hope to reach people who are authentic, kind, and passionate about the need for more passionate birth-workers (and especially those of color) in the community doing this important work. I aim to write authentically for this audience as time goes on and I hope you stay along for this journey to establishing my own midwifery practice. Stay tuned, you beautiful Sols. There's so much more to come!
Authentically yours,

Athena (Hija Del Sol)
